KaRAR means to "dance with all your might"...and that is just what we want to see our students do. We offer classes for a wide range of abilities and walks of life - from beginner preschoolers to intermediate dancers, trained senior dancers, and all the way to adults seeking a fun, new challenge. KaRAR studios is dedicated to thorough technique training; establishing a friendly dance community; employing qualified, energetic instructors; using wholesome music & choroegraphy; and fostering a school-wide love of the arts. We aspire to create life-long dancers!
Why dance?
Dance training leads to a variety of positive impacts on an individual's life: an understanding of one's body and it's ability to move; an appreciation for physical activity; a greater understanding of different kinds of music and ways to respond; and stepping out of 'comfort zones' and trying new things. It is a builder of self esteem in adults and children alike, and can positively shape each individual's perspective of themselves. We offer a combination of hard work, a fun, relaxed atmosphere, and a great community of dancers and their families. Come join us!
At KaRAR, we endeavour to teach each student to see themselves as a dancer...then they are one.
Where are we?
Starting in August 2010, come visit us at # 106 3201-43 Ave., Stony Plain (in the Norquest College Bldg. behind McDonald's). Our comfortable lobby with plenty of seating and toys for younger siblings has plain view of both studios, which are equipped with french doors, to enable you to watch your dancer throughout their class. We have in-studio washrooms/ change rooms along with a student lounge for down time and homework completion. Our convenient 'family e-mail' system allows us to effectively communicate studio events and updates, and our regular office hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:00-7:00 pm starting August 22nd. Summer office hours will be Wednesdays from 5:00-800 pm. Please feel free to stop in!
Registration & Fees
Fees are determined based on a number of things: how many classes a dancer is enrolled in; time of registration (i.e. returning students who register 'early-bird' qualify for a 5% discount); and method of payment (i.e. payment in full for the year is a 5% discount). Ultimately, our goal as a studio is to make dance affordable and available to as many students in the parkland area as possible.

Family Fundraising
At KaRAR, we know enrolling kids in activities can get expensive. For this reason, we have established an optional 'Family Fundraising' program to help families with the costs that are incurred. If you choose, you can take on a fundraising opportunity (we are supporting area businesses as well) and ALL credits you obtain from sales will go towards future costume fees and/ or registration fees. For more information, give us a call!
Studio Fundraising
We at KaRAR want to see bigger and better things for our dancers. We have a long term goal of moving to larger space, and we have begun the process of fundraising within our school to achieve this. If you wish to be a part, we plan to have events such as: Bottle Drive, Waterpark Family Swim Night, and Silent Auction Wine & Cheese...come out for a fun, social evening; watch ballroom demonstrations, maybe try a sample class, bid on some excellent items, and have a great time!
Dance Conferences
In October, we will be attending Groove Street at the Shaw Conference Centre (excellent dance intensive weekend in all genres!) as well as Street Groove in February (hip hop focused training). Great weekend with great choreographers and great friends!
Productions, Festivals, Performances, and Costumes
At KaRAR, we endeavour to provide a larger performance opportunity for our student body. Auditions for extra dance pieces and acting roles is an integral part of what we do. Extra involvements require extra rehearsals, and a detailed schedule of rehearsals is given to each dancer who takes on the creative challenge. Last year's production of Aladdin was an excellent showcase of both our students' and teachers' abilities and gifts!
Community Performances
As well, we like to provide other community performance opportunities such as The Festival of Trees, Senior's Facilities, Stars of Hope, and the Farmer's Day Parade. All of that hard work needs a chance to be seen!
Costumes
Costumes are a vital part of any performance: dancers who are dressed in unity become a team. Costumes also create a sense of pride and excitement in the performance. Please note: KaRAR studios has a strict policy of modest costuming, and we will adhere to this at all times.
We outsource our costuming through a variety of options: catalogue ordering, professional seamstresses, in-house seamstresses, retail purchasing, parent sewers, and rentals. Costume fees for the 09/10 dance year will range from approx. $50.00 for preschool dancers to a maximum of $100.00 for jr./int./senior dancers per dance class they are enrolled in. Spring costume deposits will be due in November 2011. Christmas costumes are family-provided as simple add-on pieces to class wear.
